ABOUT THE DUNURE ESTATE
The Dunure Estate lies between the Kennedy strongholds of Culzean Castle and Dunure Castle.
Stretching from the shoreline to the peaks of the Carrick Hills, Drumshang and Dunure Mains are famous Ayrshire farms, looked after by the same family for 60 years. Spectacular beaches, caves, and castles are all within walking distance of the cabins via a network of well signed and maintained paths.
Meet Your Hosts
Meet Tracy, Angus and Nell (the Spaniel)
Thanks to a much-loved Land Rover, Angus and Tracy travel extensively through Europe, meaning they’re no strangers to camping, glamping, and rural retreats in all their guises.
The influence of European chalet sophistication, paired with Rocky Mountain cabin aesthetic, is woven into the fabric of Baron, Bennan, and Brae – all lovingly designed and furnished by Angus and Tracy.
These three timeless cabins are in keeping with their woodland surroundings, with sheltered outdoor spaces, contemporary comforts, and hints of luxury to make your stay all the more magical.
Angus and Tracy warmly welcome you to experience the unrivalled tranquillity of Mount Freedom, and all that Dunure has to offer.
The cabin was absolutely beautiful and equip with everything we needed and more. Everything provided was of a really high quality and the hosts have clearly paid a lot of attention to detail. The suggested walks were great and very easy to follow and there was lots of useful information provided such as nearby places to visit, eat and shop.
The setting was just breathtaking - it’s remote, very private and has the most incredible view - it’s the perfect escape from everyday life. We couldn’t get enough of waking up to the view - even when the weather was bad. The hosts were so lovely, incredibly helpful and very attentive. If I could rate this holiday higher than a 10/10 I would - it’s the perfect getaway. I couldn’t recommend it more and we will certainly be going back.Maria - 4/2/2022
Wildlife and the environment
Tucked between the seashore and the heathland tops, the cabins are a fantastic vantage point for many kinds of wildlife and habitats. Cabin visitors can include roe deer, foxes, badgers, squirrels – you may even be serenaded by owls during a twilight dip in the outdoor bath.
Part of the Dunure Estate is covered by an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), and the cliffs below home numerous types of seabirds, including two pairs of peregrines – so don’t forget your binoculars. From ruins of ancient settlements near the seashore, to the spectacular monolithic Culzean Castle, there are plenty of historic sites to explore.
The well maintained Ayrshire Coastal Path winds through the Estate, so from the cabins you have immediate access to a walking-only trail that covers the whole Ayrshire coastline (crystal clear waters lapping unspoilt beaches included).
Dunure harbour is a postcard picturesque fishing village, complete with a cafe, pub, and waters waiting for kayakers and paddleboarders. Keep an eye out for local fishermen selling fresh catch – the ultimate addition to a cabin BBQ at sunset. If you’re feeling adventurous, plan a trip to the Isle of Arran for hikes, foodie fun, and (of course) distilleries.
