About US

The Dunure Estate lies between the Kennedy strongholds of Culzean Castle and Dunure Castle.

Reaching from the shoreline to the top of the Carrick Hills, Drumshang and Dunure Mains are famous old Ayrshire farms that have been in the same family for 60 years. Spectacular beaches, caves, castles are all within walking distance of the cabins via a network of well signed prepared paths.

Your Hosts

Meet Tracy, Angus and Nell (the Spaniel)

Angus and Tracy love to spend time in their much loved Land Rover travelling extensively through Europe. This has allowed them to experience all sort of camping, glamping and rural retreats. This, combined with an appreciation of cabin life, helped them design a cabin that looks very much in keeping with its wooded surrounding, has great sheltered outdoor spaces and is cosy and warm when needed.

The cabin was absolutely beautiful and equip with everything we needed and more. Everything provided was of a really high quality and the hosts have clearly paid a lot of attention to detail. The suggested walks were great and very easy to follow and there was lots of useful information provided such as nearby places to visit, eat and shop.

The setting was just breathtaking - it’s remote, very private and has the most incredible view - it’s the perfect escape from everyday life. We couldn’t get enough of waking up to the view - even when the weather was bad. The hosts were so lovely, incredibly helpful and very attentive. If I could rate this holiday higher than a 10/10 I would - it’s the perfect getaway. I couldn’t recommend it more and we will certainly be going back.

Wildlife & the environment

Going from the seashore to the heathland tops makes great habitat for all sorts wildlife. Frequent visitors to the cabins are roe deer, foxes, badgers and squirrels. Most evenings you are serenaded by owls. The cliffs are home to a variety of seabirds and 2 pairs of peregrines.

Part of the estate is covered by an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). They have the ruins of very ancient settlements near the shore.

The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs through the estate.

It’s a well-maintained path, suitable for walking only, that covers the whole Ayrshire coastline.
